### Job Description:

We are seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist to provide locum tenens coverage located in Fort Wayne, IN. This assignment will cover inpatient GI services, including ERCP and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) , as well as night call coverage. The physician will be responsible for inpatient rounding and providing gastrointestinal care at two sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Inpatient GI coverage at Dupont Hospital (Lutheran) and its sister hospital, Lutheran Downtown Hospital.
  • Perform various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including:

    • Upper GI endoscopy (with biopsy, foreign body removal, and fulguration of bleeder)
    • ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic)
    • Colonoscopy (with biopsy and polyp excision)
    • Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
    • Liver biopsy
    • Esophageal manometry interpretation and dilatation
    • Small bowel biopsy
    • Flexible and rigid sigmoidoscopy
    • Insertion and management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube
  • Provide coverage during 24-hour on-call shifts (12 hours on-site, 12 hours on call).
  • No outpatient clinic responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified in Gastroenterology.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Indiana (active Indiana license, CSR, and DEA required).
  • Minimum 2 years fellowship training in Gastroenterology.
  • Must be proficient in ERCP and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS).
  • Strong experience in upper and lower GI endoscopy, liver biopsy , and other common gastroenterological procedures.
  • Ability to manage inpatient care in a Level 2 trauma facility.
  • Availability for 1 week/month of coverage in 2025, with flexible shift schedules.

  • In-house call with a 30-minute response time.
