## OB Hospitalist (Laborist) Opportunity in New Orleans, LA
You’ll step into a high-volume OB service where your presence matters from triage through delivery and urgent consults. This is a full-time OB Hospitalist/Laborist role built for physicians who enjoy hands-on L&D coverage with strong backup and resources. Practice Overview
- You’ll join an established OB hospitalist program providing 24/7 L&D coverage at a respected community hospital
- Team support includes employed OB/GYNs, 4–5 laborists, midwives, APPs, experienced L&D RNs, and resident coverage in triage
- Robust backup structure: an OB/GYN is on back-up call and a faculty member is always on call for added support
- High-acuity capability with onsite MFM consults, Level III NICU, and advanced maternal level of care; complex OB kept in-house (VBACs, twins, accreta, ectopics)
Schedule
- 24-hour shifts (7a–7a), typically 5–6 shifts per month
- No back-to-back shifts; schedule built with flexibility within reason
- Primary focus on OB coverage: unassigned patients, L&D floor coverage, and collaborative triage with residents/faculty
- Call room provided (bed and workstation) to support a sustainable 24-hour model
Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay: $302,400 for 6 shifts/month
- Extra shifts: $4,200 per additional 24-hour shift; $2,100 per 12-hour shift
- PTO option: 7 days/year, with ability to cash out (valued at $29,400)
- Benefits include medical/dental/vision, life, short/long-term disability, 401(k), CME up to $2,500/year, and reimbursement for licensure/DEA/professional associations
Candidate Requirements
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in OB/GYN
- Open to new grads; experienced physicians also welcomed
- Comfort with L&D coverage and urgent decision-making; opportunity for emergent GYN cases if desired
- Visa sponsorship available; AMG and IMG candidates considered
