Practice Setting
- Transfusion medicine heavy service line with frequent massive transfusion protocols due to trauma status
- Consult driven role with clinical rounding and real time advising on refractory bleeding and un crossmatchable units
- Broad specialty exposure including oncology and hematology chronic transfusions, cardiothoracic surgery, and pediatrics and NICU support
- Chronic sickle cell management and HLA matched platelet coordination
Schedule
- Monday through Friday schedule
- Day shift, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Rotating night and weekend call
- Assignment timeline aligns with a 60 to 90 day credentialing window
Cases and Procedures
- Apheresis, oversight of therapeutic plasma and red cell exchanges
- Transfusion medicine consultation, rounding and guidance for refractory bleeding and un cross matchable units
- Critical care coverage including trauma, emergency surgery, and OB hemorrhage scenarios
Requirements
- Must be an MD or DO
- Board Certified in blood bank/transfusion medicine preferred
- Active North Carolina medical license required
