Surgical Physician Assistant - Maryland

Schedule:

  • Shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:45 PM, 3 days per week (12-hour shifts)

  • Additional Shifts: Ability to cover 6-12 shifts per month

    • Call: Weekday Call: 4:30 PM to 7:00 AM
    • Weekend Call: 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a care coordinator for surgeons, referring physicians, nursing staff, and patients
  • Screen patients and perform thorough histories and physical examinations
  • Order/prescribe necessary medications, laboratory/radiologic studies, fluids, diets, and other patient care orders
  • Assist in surgical procedures including tissue handling, providing exposure, using surgical instruments, suturing, tying, and ensuring hemostasis
  • Respond to the Emergency Room to manage or assist with trauma resuscitation when needed
  • Instruct patients on discharge information , home care of wounds, medication use, diet, and other aspects of health care
