Pediatric Hospitalist Locums – California

This Pediatric Hospitalist assignment is based in California and begins as early as August 2025.

Highlights

Practice Setting

• Level II NICU — no neonatologist on site
• 6-bed NICU, 5-bed pediatric floor, 18 postpartum rooms
• Baby-friendly hospital
• No PICU

Schedule

• Choose from 12-hour day shifts (with APP support and backup call) or 12-hour night shifts (5–8 calls, average of 4 in-person visits)
• ED patients seen within 12 hours; critical within 3 hours
• 7–10 shifts/month preferred — will consider 3–4 shifts/month

Cases and Procedures

• ED consults (2–4 per 24-hour shift)
• Intubation and UAC/UVC lines
• High-risk deliveries and C-sections
• Well-baby rounding with community pediatricians

Requirements

• Board-certified Pediatrician (Pediatric Hospital Medicine)
• California license required
• 12+ months of experience
• ACLS, DEA, PALS, and NRP certified
• Must be comfortable with neonatal resuscitation procedures



Other Details

• Average OB census: 14; 5–7 deliveries/day
• NICU census: 3; pediatric floor varies seasonally
• Support available from APPs (Mon–Fri) and ED staff
• Will not wait for licensure
