Job Title: Emergency Department Locum Physician - Massachusetts

Dates of Coverage: June 2025, Ongoing

Shifts and Hours:

  • June: Focus on night shifts, 8-10 shifts per month
  • July and Ongoing: 10-12 shifts per month, covering both day and night shifts
  • Flexibility required for both day and night shift coverage

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical care to patients presenting to the ED, including managing a mix of trauma and medical cases
  • Supervise and collaborate with ED APPs
  • Respond to house codes when required, as part of a response team (airway management)
  • Adhere to hospital bylaws and respond to calls within 30 minutes
  • Document patient care in Epic EMR
  • Participate in patient transfers, primarily to Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center

Hospital Details:

  • Trauma Level: None (Community Hospital)
  • Total Beds: 44
  • Annual ER Volume: 55,000
  • Fast Track Services: 40% of ED Volume Treated by Fast Track
  • ED Physicians: 11 total, with 5 departing
  • Hospital has 24/7 Radiology, Lab, OR, and Anesthesia availability

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified (ABEM/AOBEM) or Board Eligible with 5 years of residency
  • Active Massachusetts medical license (required at the time of name clear)
  • Local candidates within driving distance of the facility (mileage reimbursed)
  • Minimum of 5 years of residency training (for Board Eligible candidates)

Credentialing & Onboarding:

  • Estimated credentialing time: 4 weeks for mandatory onboarding

Certification Requirements:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • Active Massachusetts License
