Practice Setting
- Inpatient trauma level III ED
- 39 monitored ED beds, 9 fast-track beds, 10 behavioral health beds
- 11-bed observation unit run by hospitalists
- All specialty backup
- EPIC charting
Schedule
- Minimum 5 shifts per month
- 8–9 hour shifts
- Preference for night coverage, but all shifts considered
- Orientation includes medical affairs, EPIC training, employee health, and ED shadowing
Procedures and Cases
- Typical emergency department cases
- 70k ED visits/year, 1.8 patients/hour, 25% admit rate
- Mostly adults, 9% pediatrics
Requirements
- Board certified or eligible in EM, FM, or IM (within 3 years of residency)
- ACLS, ATLS certifications
- Active South Carolina license (no license wait)
- EM board certification preferred
Credentialing and Travel
- Credentialing: ~90 days, potential for temp privileges with clean file
- Travel and lodging provided
