The University of Chicago 's Department of Radiology seeks a full-time Section Chief at senior rank for up to a five-year renewable term. As Section Chief, the appointee will lead the Pediatric Radiology Section with the overarching goal of enhancing its clinical and academic excellence. The appointee will foster professional and academic excellence, implement methods to improve performance and well-being and provide support and guidance for educational advancement and research endeavors. Other duties include training and supervising medical students, residents, and fellows. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous fringe benefits package) depend on qualifications.
The appointee will be comfortable with all aspects of Pediatric Radiology (conventional radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI), contribute to patient care, medical education, and scholarship, and join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners at UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates.
The University of Chicago Medical Center is designated as both a Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center and operates a nationally recognized burn unit. Comer Children's Hospital is an integrated children’s hospital that offers a full complement of pediatric services with a total of 172 general pediatric, NICU, and PICU beds. The Department of Radiology includes more than 80 full- time faculty members, clinical associates, and postdoctoral researchers. In addition to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, our faculty conducts cutting-edge translational and clinical research. Before the start of employment, qualified applicants must : 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois and the State of Indiana, 3) be Board certified or eligible in Radiology, and 4) have completed a Pediatric Radiology fellowship or have equivalent experience in pediatric radiology.
